Sandy Miller

With over 30 years of emergency management experience, starting at the local government level before joining Emergency Management BC in 2007, Sandy gained experience with response to flooding, wildfire, dangerous goods spills, and other natural and man-made hazards in BC.

 

During her tenure with EMBC as a regional manager in the Southwest Region, Sandy was the lead for the development of the Provincial Regional Emergency Operations Centre Operational Guidelines and worked collaboratively on numerous provincial initiatives. She was also responsible for maintaining the operational capacity of the Provincial Regional Operations Centre including training for responding BC government employees.

 

Sandy has extensive knowledge of financial procedures for emergency management with an emphasis on providing clear language guidance to responding communities.

 

Since her retirement in 2021, through her company Stonebarn Consulting and with other SAFER member companies, Sandy has worked with BC First Nations and local governments supporting training, response, and various planning projects, as well as providing on-going recovery support for the 2021 November Atmospheric River event.
